The foot: an interesting part of the human anatomy. When we’re born, they take our footprints, people count our toes and tickle our soles to hear that wonderful baby gurgle. At that amazing age babies can actually take hold of their feet to chew reflectively on their own toes. Long before we’re walking, our parents are cramming them into tiny little leather Oxfords, hiking boots or even tiny running shoes, I guess because they’re just so darned cute. Once we do start walking, we take our feet for granted. They get us where we want to go, and that’s just fine.
But once we’re grown and trying to fulfill our sexual destiny, we become aware of feet as aesthetic accessories. Turns out, they are more than just balancing tools, locomoting appendages. Feet have the surprising capacity to be extremely cute, or they can be downright hideous. Women’s feet are usually nicer than men’s, and the foot fetish is a common obsession among men. In fact, China once made the foot the primary object of female sexual beauty, subjecting women to footbinding because tiny feet were considered the most attractive. We still hold to the ideal of tiny feet, which explains why it’s so hard to find women’s shoes in wider that “B” width. It also describes pointy-toed shoes, stilettos and other fashionable footwear that makes your legs look wonderful, but can turn toes into what one author described as “scrambled monstrosities”.

Treat Yourself to a Professional Home Pedicure
Pablo Neruda wrote a poem that spoke of his love’s “hard little feet”: he loves her feet because they walked the world to find him. While “hard little feet” may not sound beautiful to some people, the description evokes high arches, narrowness and a sort of lithe strength not found in the average foot.
Whether you have hard little feet or larger, softer ones, your feet will appreciate a weekly soak and scrub. Especially for women like nurses or teachers, who spend hours on their feet each day, a dedicated footbath is essential to preserving not only the beauty of your feet, but their health and comfort too. Use the time to push back softened cuticles with an orange stick, to rub away calluses with a pumice stone, and finish by moisturizing and rubbing your feet. A foot rub is the perfect finish to your footbath: get help from your own sweetheart!See a our favorite selection of soothing foot baths for the perfect home pedicure.

Sexy feet, repulsive feet, are not usually a matter of luck. A lot depends on the care and maintenance regime established by the foot-owner. At an absolute, bare minimum, feet should be clean. I mean, you walk on them, don’t you! What if you were stuffed into a leather show all day, strolling through parking lots, jogging in parks, shopping, doing laundry, tapping impatiently in line at the bank. Feet suffer from lack of air, from shoes that don’t breathe, from sweaty conditions on hot summer asphalt. Daily scrubbing with soap and a nail brush is a good start, but it’s only a start, if you want good-looking feet.
When it comes to toenails, there is no in-between. Clean, healthy, well-groomed toenails are sexy. Grubby, long, unhealthy toenails are nasty, and not to be tolerated. Toenails should be well-brushed with soapy water, clipped short and neat with clippers, and treated with anti-fungal medicine if nails are discolored, thick or peeling. Even girls can get athlete’s foot (always wear flip-flops at the gym, at the pool, at the park, in any shower that is not your very own), and there topical medicines that can cure it. (If you don’t know what athlete’s foot is, it’s a fungus that causes feet to burn, itch and peel).
Assuming your feet are clean and healthy, the step to beauty is a short one. Keep your feet smooth by using a pumice stone a couple of times a week, rub them with lotion like Upper Canada Peppermint Foot Cream to keep them soft, and use a clear polish if you don’t like brightly colored toes. No one talks about it (except in women’s studies class), but women grow hair on their toes. If your toes are fuzzy, you can wax them to add to overall foot smoothness. Get a pedicure for that professional polish, but don’t let them cut your cuticles, whose sole purpose in life is to keep your feet safe from infections.
Showcase your sexy feet in strappy date-night sandals, sexy career pumps or silly, weekend, jelly thongs with a silver toe ring for an accent. (Never wear a toe ring and an anklet at the same time –it’s a huge Fashion Don’t). Hiking boots are ideal for long walks, and they also look cute with ragg socks in wool or cotton and tweed skirts. Boots always look wonderful, and the longer they are, the better they look. (There is a limit—boots that go past the knee scream “Dominatrix!” and may not be the look you’re trying to project.

Homemade Beach Sand Foot Scrub

A sugar scrub is an amazing beauty treatment that can be used to smooth and exfoliate your feet. It is a natural spa treatment that contains healthy ingredients that won’t harm your skin. Sugar has natural acids that will dissolve dry skin.
Sugar granules polish your feet, making your skin softer. Sugar is a great exfoliater, removing dead skin cells comfortably. To scrub, simply massage the sugar on your feet.
Massage is a proven way to relieve stress. Massaging calms muscles, relieving tension both of the body and mind. Using a sugar scrub on your feet will benefit more than just your dry feet.
It only takes a few minutes to get a foot spa treatment, and you will not be disappointed with the results. Getting rid of the hard, dry skin on your feet will feel like a wonderful accomplishment. Another advantage is that it is relaxing as well.
Homemade soap making is a wonderful option for creating a sugar scrub. Soap making gives you the chance to find your favorite type of ingredients, and mix them together. In this case, soap making with the intent of making a sugar scrub means choosing your favorite type of sugar, such as granulated sugar or cane sugar, and combining it with soap that you’ve already previously made.
Start by polishing your feet with the sugar. Simply massage your feet with the sugar, adding a little water as needed. After massaging your feet for several minutes, wash the sugar off.
Once you finish and dry your feet remember to moisturize them using a product with intense moisture. Use a body butter or cream and massage it onto your feet. Anytime you exfoliate, it’s important to follow with a good moisture rich lotion to keep your skin healthy and smooth.

Keep Healthy Feet with Anti-Aging Tips
Feet are the body’s balancing act. Their tiny bones are delicately articulated to flex, splay arch and grip in order to keep you upwardly mobile. If your feet are compromised, so is your posture. Foot problems can stress other joints and throw the entire body off-balance. A headache, for example, may have origins in the way you walk. Reflexologists believe that the foot contains pressure points relating to the entire body. Their welfare then, is crucial to your comfort.

Choosing the Right Shoes
Style and good sense aren’t always compatible in footwear for women. However, it’s worth hunting for a creative compromise. According to the American Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, 75 per cent of foot problems are caused by constantly wearing high heels which force toes forward, over-arching the foot and imposing the body weight on the heels and balls of the feet. This unequal weight distribution means that the feet can’t fully shock-absorb the impact of movement. Tension reverberates up the spine as you walk and may cause back pain and headaches.

A burning sensation on the balls of the feet is caused by the feet sliding into the narrowest part of the shoe as you walk – pitched forward by very high heels – and is an early warning sign of hard skin build—up. Corns and calluses ultimately form to protect the bones and joints from this type of shock.
Reverting to “flatties” may not be the answer. Habitually wearing high heels shortens the tendons in the back of the leg, so suddenly dropping down several centimetres can be agony if you are used to wearing high heels, switching to shoes with a low heel of around 2 1/2 – 5 cm (1 – 2 inches) is often more comfortable than totally flat shoes, as the slightly raised heel is less likely to jar the foot and is more able to take the pressure off the lower back. Alternating high and low-heeled shoes is the most practical answer to keeping muscles and tendons flexible. When you’re running, walking or exercising, always wear trainers with good, shock-absorbing soles.

Remember, that keeping healthy feet pretty is an important part of anti-aging. Tips to keep feet pretty and healthy follow:

Keeping Feet Flexible
Good anti-aging tips for your feet are to keep your feet exercises – chiropodists recommend walking barefoot around the house or, more pleasurably, on the beach. Gripping damp sand exercises the toes and acts as a natural dead skin exfoliator. Exercise sandals are fashionable, but if you buy a pair, make sure they fit. Your heels should be cupped by a support ridge on the in-sole and grip bars should encourage the four smaller toes to curl while leaving the big toe flat. Bars or ridges that go right across the in sole compromise the big toe and throw the foot off-balance.

In summer, prevent hard skin on heels from drying and cracking by moisturizing regularly. During winter “closed” shoes trap perspiration, keeping feet soft and hydrated. But, they also need regular airing. Don’t wear the same pair of shoes two days running – try to alternate as much as possible.
The Importance of Hygiene
The most common and insidious foot problem is athletes foot – a fungal infection that attacks five million sufferers yearly in Britain alone. Although you don’t have to be an athlete to catch it, gyms and swimming pools are high-risk zones because warmth and moisture provide the ideal environment for fungal spores to thrive.

Symptoms usually first appear between the fourth and fifth toes where the skin becomes itchy, sore and inflamed. Cracking and weeping may occur if early symptoms aren’t treated. If left, infection spreads over the entire foot and can transfer to the hands around the fingernails.

Some strains of athletes foot are resistant to over-the-counter creams, so it’s best to treat it medically with broad- spectrum anti-fungal preparations containing ingredients such as terbinafine and griseofulvin. If infection keeps recurring, you may have to consider changing your footwear. Fungal spores feed off keratin and can live on shed nail and skin fibres trapped in shoes and socks for up to two years!  Be aware of these issues to maintain healthy feet.

Efficient hygiene measures can prevent you from catching it in the first place and you can have healthy feet at all times. Bathe and check your feet daily and dry them thoroughly especially between the toes, and use an anti-fungal powder. Wear flip-flops in communal showers, pool-sides and changing rooms. Don’t share towels or borrow trainers or shoes. Always wear your own tights or socks: never borrow the shops when

you’re trying on new shoes.

Simple 5 Tips To Silky Soft Feet 2012

Silky soft feet look healthy and attractive which is especially important when wearing open shoes. Feet skin requires the similar care as the rest of it. Exfoliation and moisturizing helps get rid of dry dead skin cells that make feet look cracked.
Silky soft heels and feet look attractive. The open shoes show off our pedicure but they can also show off the cracked skin on the heels, which is not so attractive. Exfoliating and moisturizing dry feet can be enough to make feet silky soft. But there are also some ways to avoid dryness and prevent cracking. It’s also important to know the cause for cracking feet.

Tip#1 Soak & Exfoliate
Soaking your feet in warm water for 10 minutes will soften the crackled and dry feet making it easier to get rid of dead cells. While the skin is soft take a pumice stone and scrub the heels, toes, and soles removing dead cells. You will feel as the skin is becoming even softer and silkier. Spend two minutes on each foot focusing on the areas where the skin is rough and dry. Avoid scrubbing too harshly, though to prevent skin tear and irritation.

Tip#2 Moisturize
Use feet moisturizer to after the above procedure and put on clean cotton socks. It’s best to do this before sleep then the moisturizing effect will be greater. You can also use vegetable oil instead of cream.

Tip# 3 Opt for Comfortable Footwear
Opting for comfy footwear can prevent the cracked feet or at least lessen the chance of having them. Comfortable footwear can feature heels but they should be wearable. The footwear has to sit comfortably on the foot without causing pain during walking.

Tip# 4 Give Your Feet Rest
Cracked feet can be caused by long hours of standing or walking, obesity, and anything that can put weight on feet for prolonged periods of time. It is important to give your feet rest to prevent cracked heels and soreness.

Tip # 5 Foot Massage
Foot massage makes blood circulation going. It also relieves strain after a long day.
Do the exfoliation treatment when you feel the skin is getting drier and rougher. It’s not only important to care for cracked feet but it is even more important to find out the cause and eliminate it especially if the cracking is severe and feet are bleeding.
