The latest study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has come forward in support of the coffee drinkers. It has been found that people having a moderate consumption of coffee on a daily basis has lesser risk of Type 2 diabetes when compared with non-drinkers or occasional drinkers.
There had been a study about the benefits of coffee in fighting the risks of diabetes but was opposed by the research which did show that there was a risk of cancer or heart diseases following which the proposal was dropped. But the recent study by the team in Europe found that drinking 3 to 4 cups of coffee a day helps you reduce the risk of diabetes.
The latest study also found that apart from cutting the risk by 30% there was also no risk involved of chronic disorders like cancer or heart diseases.
For their study, the researchers recruited 42,659 people. The volunteers, who took part in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Germany, were followed up for almost nine years on average. During that time, there were 1,432 cases of type 2 diabetes diagnosed, 394 heart attacks, 310 strokes cases and 1,801 cancer cases.
So good news for all coffee freaks! Drink and stay healthy!
